Echoes of Revolution
Keeping his movements deliberate and his dagger poised, Jonathan advances toward the guards, his goal to dispatch them without raising an alarm. If he succeeds, the fire can be lit safely, but failure would mean immediate peril.Jonathan picks up a small stone from the ground and pitches it into the dimly lit area opposite the depot. The resulting noise distracts the guards, who move to investigate the sound, giving Jonathan a critical moment to light the fire unnoticed.Jonathan emerges unsteadily from the darkness, feigning the role of an intoxicated British loyalist. He loudly berates the guards with exaggerated patriotism, hoping his boisterous act will distract them from their post and give him time to set the fire.Jonathan retrieves his emergency flask of lamp oil and discreetly pours a meandering line of oil from the depot to a concealed corner. Once finished, he ignites the trail and watches the flames slither toward the structure before vanishing into the night.
