Evelyn dives to her right, colliding with the slick pavement before scrambling behind a dented dumpster. The car roars past, its wheels kicking up a wave of grimy water that drenches her.Evelyn notices the rusty fire escape ladder hanging just above her head and jumps with all her strength, clutching the icy rungs. She hoists herself up quickly, her legs swinging as the sedan screeches below, barely missing her.Evelyn notices a stationary delivery truck a short distance away. She quickly drops to the ground and scrambles beneath it, her coat snagging on the asphalt while the sedan roars by, narrowly missing her.Evelyn reacts instantly, pulling her pistol free and firing at the oncoming sedan's tires to stop its advance. The gunshot rings out, and the screech of ricocheted metal fills the tight confines of the alley.
